Stair treads can be manufactured at any width and length to suit your application, 

Mild steel and Aluminium stair treads can be supplied with a banded end/welded fixing or bolted end to suit your requirements. Mild steel and Aluminium stair treads can be supplied with no nosing, a checker plate nosing or a yellow abrasive nosing for the leading edge of the stair treads to best suit your application.

FRP stair treads require supports at each end for the stair treads to rest on, Steel Grating Ltd supply stainless steel M clips, nuts and bolts for FRP stair treads to be fastened to their supports. FRP stair treads can be supplied with no nosing or a yellow abrasive nosing to best suit your requirements.

Stair tread Types: Mild steel and Aluminium

• T1 - Banded end / Welded fixing, No nosing
• T2 - Bolted end connection, No nosing
• T3 - Banded end / Welded fixing, Floor plate nosing
• T4- Bolted end connection, Floor plate nosing
• T5- Banded end / Welded fixing, Yellow abrasive nosing
• T6- Bolted end connection, Yellow abrasive nosing

Standard end plates: mild steel and aluminium stair treads
Standard endplates are manufactured from 65x5mm flat bar for grating up to 40mm in depth.  Please click on the attached link to see the standard end plates we supply for our mild steel and aluminium stair treads.

Custom end plates can be manufactured on request.

Stair Tread Types: FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic)

• T1-  No nosing
• T5-  Yellow abrasive nosing

(FRP stair treads must be fastened to stair tread supports, typically an angle welded to the support stringers for the stair treads to rest on)

Toe boards on stair treads:
Toe boards can be incorporated into any mild steel and aluminium stair tread options. A toe board is typically a flat bar welded to the back edge of a stair tread to close the openings between risers. Toe boards are optional and need to be specified at the time of ordering / quoting if required.

Mild steel and Aluminium stair treads can be manufactured at any length x width. Tables to the right indicate the maximum recommended span for each grating type. This table also shows our standard recommended widths which are based on the nearest load bar width dimensions.

We recommend that FRP stair treads are manufactured to the nearest whole square dimensions for length and width for ease of installation. The FRP table shows the maximum recommended spans for various thickness FRP grating to the nearest whole square dimension. Please contact Steel Grating Ltd for a nearest whole square dimension chart for FRP grating to determine all length x width options available in FRP stair treads.

FRP stair treads require a minimum of 40mm support surface at each end of the stair tread to sit on, and require 4 off stainless steel M clips, nuts and bolts for fixing to the support.

Steel Grating Ltd supply FRP yellow abrasive nosings for the leading edge of stair treads and landings where required. These provide a superior non-slip surface and being yellow in colour provides excellent definition against the background as per the requirements of AS1657. In addition to our yellow abrasive nosing's we also supply a 3mm thick yellow abrasive sheeting (Grip plate) for installation on any flooring surfaces. Our yellow abrasive nosing and grip plate are ideal in any wet, slippery, oily or dirty conditions.

Our yellow abrasive nosings and grip plate can be easily installed to new areas or existing problematic areas. Being of fibre glass construction this provides a tough, durable and long lasting solution to meet your requirements while also providing excellent UV and chemical resistance.

Our yellow abrasive nosings and grip plate have been tested in accordance, and comply with AS/NZS 3661.1:1993(wet) for pedestrian slip resistance.

YELLOW ABRASIVE NOSINGS:

Dimensions: Any length up to 3000mm x 50mm wide x 25mm deep x3mm thick.

YELLOW ABRASIVE GRIP PLATE:
Standard sheet size:1200mmx2400mmx3mm.
From our standard sheet size we can cut into strips, squares, rectangles or any shapes to suit the requirements of the area.
